Honda unveiled the India bound 10th generation Civic sedan, with a facelift giving it aggressive front styling, Autocar India is reporting. In its latest avatar, the premium luxury sedan gets even sportier.

In the front, the new Honda Civic gets the new Honda grille in piano black flanked by Accord-style LED headlights. There is also an aggressive bumper, housing fog lights encased in chrome. Honda had announced earlier this year, at the Auto Expo, that it would be launching three new cars in India in FY19.

The changes to the 2019 Civic’s exterior are subtle. There’s now a ‘Sport’ trim on offer internationally, with 18-inch wheels, a splitter-style rear bumper, rear spoiler and added black detailing for the fascia. Rounding off the list of cosmetic updates are new designs for the alloy wheels.

Inside, the 2019 Honda Civic facelift gets the company’s updated seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This aside, there are expected to be no changes to the Civic’s interior.

Also standard on the Civic facelift is Honda’s Sensing suite of safety features, which includes a collision warning and mitigation system with automatic braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control and more.

Honda had discontinued the Civic in 2013 owing to low sales and high manufacturing costs. But the latest news is surely to delight enthusiasts and fans of the brand. What’s more, this time the premium sedan will also come with a diesel engine option, as opposed to earlier versions which only came with a petrol engine.

For India, Honda is expected to introduce the Civic facelift with a 1.8-litre, 140hp petrol engine, along with the 1.6-litre Earth Dreams diesel engine, putting out 120hp and 300Nm – the same engine that will also be powering the CR-V. Additionally, Honda could also pair the diesel engine with a nine-speed automatic transmission, just like with the CR-V.

The launch of the Civic facelift is slated to take place in the first half of 2019, and it is expected to be priced between 16 and 20 lakh rupees, the Autocar India report added.
