Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) released the Combined Civil Service (CCS) Exam 2018 notification on Friday, August 10th. The TNPSC CCS 2018 exam will be conducted for a total 1199 vacancies throughout the state. Interested candidates can apply for the positions at the official website, tnpsc.gov.in. The last date to apply for the CCS 2018 exam is September 9th, 2018.

The Commission will conduct the recruitment in two phases. The first phase will be the preliminary exam to be conducted on November 11th, 2018. The second phase will be the Main exam which will involve a written exam and an oral test. The date for the Main exam has not been revealed yet.

The exam will be conducted in both Tamil and English language, though candidates need to have a basic knowledge of Tamil to apply for all the positions. Preliminary exam will be of 3 hours’ duration objective exam for maximum 300 marks with 150 marks for general studies and 150 marks for general English or general Tamil. The main exam will be for 3-hour duration for 300 marks. The main exam will be a descriptive written exam on general studies. The main exam will also involve an oral test for 40 marks.

Here is how to apply for TNPSC CCS 2018 exam:

  1. Candidates need to register at the TNPSC website before apply by click on the ‘One-Time Registration’ button. The registration is for Rs. 150 and candidates also need to upload scanned copies of photograph, signature, and certificates during the registration process. The registration is valid for 5 years.    
  2. Once registered, candidates can log in and click on ‘Apply’ against the position they wish to apply for.    
  3. Fill in the necessary details, upload all the relevant documents, pay and application fee, and click on submit.    
  4. Once submitted, the PDF document can be printed out for future reference.    

Candidates can get a detailed information on breakdown of the vacancies, eligibility for each position, reservation status among other information in the notification released by the TNPSC. The notification also details the centres where the preliminary exams would be conducted.
