Ahead of its scheduled launch event in India, Nokia brand has quietly introduced two new ‘Android one’ mobiles for the Indian market along with a new variant of an existing model. HMD Global owned Nokia yesterday launched Nokia 2.1, Nokia 5.1 and the Nokia 3.1 with a new 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant. All three devices were unveiled earlier for China in May this year. However, Nokia 3.1 base variant was launched in India last month.
Notably, the Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 5.1 sport 18:9 displays, and are part of Google’s Android One initiative that promises an optimised stock Android experience and quick updates. Meanwhile, the Nokia 2.1 sports a 5.5 inch display with a 16:9 panel and runs on Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition).
“With this range, we deliver larger screens, enhanced performance across our range with processor upgrades offering up to 50 percent higher performance while maintaining the perfect balance with power consumption and stunning designs - all in a segment where consumers often need to compromise. With our renewed portfolio, you can now enjoy a premium smartphone experience without paying a premium on the price”, NDTV Gadgets quoted Ajey Mehta, HMD Global executive.
All three phones are offered in three colour options but the pricing details aren’t available as of now on the official site. Nokia 2.1 is expected to be a cheaper offering among the three which boasts of a powerful 4000mAh battery that ‘keeps going for two days straight’, the company claims.
Nokia 5.1, the premium of the three, on the other hand offers a superior performance with its 2.0 GHz octa-core processor on board and is available in two options viz 2GB/16GB and 3GB/32GB. Whereas, the Nokia 3.1 model is just an additional variant with bigger 3GB of RAM than its predecessor with no other changes on offer.
