The Union Public Service Commission released the notification for Combined Defense Services (CDS) exam 2018 today, August 8th. The notification was released for 414 vacancies and the Commission opened the link for candidates to apply for these vacancies. The last date to apply for the CDS 2018 is September 3rd until 6 pm. Those candidates interested in applying for the CDS 2018 must visit upsconline.nic.in.
The notification details the breakdown for the 414 vacancies. Indian Military Academy, Dehradun has 100 vacancies, Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala has 45 vacancies, Air Force Academy, Hyderabad 32 and Officer’s Training Academy, Chennai, 225 for men and 12 for women. All the vacancies are for male officers except for the Officer’s Training Academy. The number of vacancies is quite similar to the vacancies in CDS 2017.
Eligibility
Candidates for IMA and Officer’s Academy must hold a graduate degree from a recognised university. For INA, the candidate must hold an engineering degree. Air Force Academy requires the candidate to be a graduate with an education on physics and mathematics until class 12th or an engineering degree.
Recruitment Phases
The recruitment for the CDS 2018 will be conducted in three phases. The first phase will involve an online exam with objective-type questions. Those candidates who clear the phase 1 will be called for a Service Selection Board (SSB) interview for the second stage. The third stage will be for document verification and an interview.
Here is how to apply for UPSC CDS 2018 exam
- Log in to the UPSC application website.
- Click on ‘Online application for various examinations of UPSC’ link.
- Click on ‘Click here for Part-I’ link under ‘Part-I Registration’ column.
- Read the instructions carefully and click on ‘Yes’ at the bottom.
- Fill in all the details and click on ‘Continue’.
- Candidate must attach all the required documents and pay the requisite fee to process the application.
The detailed application process, eligibility criteria, examination pattern, and important dates can be accessed in the notification on the official UPSC website, upsc.gov.in, under ‘What’s New’ section. The admit card for the CDS 2018 exam will be available approximately three weeks before the exam date and the result for the first stage of the exam is likely to be released in the month of December 2018.
