The IIM CAT 2018 registrations have begun for the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Common Admission Test (CAT). Candidates can resister now by visiting the official website, iimcat.ac.in. The IIM CAT 2018 registrations will run up to 5 p.m. on September 19th, which is the last date that registrations for IIM CAT 2018 will be open.

The IIM CAT admit cards will be made available for download from October 24th right up to the IIM CAT 2018 exam date, which is November 25th. The IIM CAT 2018 result date is tentatively scheduled for the second week of January 2019.

The CAT exam will be held in test centres across 147 cities and candidates will be give the option to select 4 test cities in order of preference. The institute handling the registration process will allot candidates’ first choice as far as possible.

As per the CAT 2018 Registration Guide, sometimes it may happen that a candidate cannot be allotted any of their chosen 4 cities. In such rare cases, the guide says, applicants will be allotted to a nearby test city.

How to register for IIM CAT 2018

  1. Log on to the official IIM CAT website.
  2. On the right side of the website, under the heading New Candidate Registration, click on Register.
  3. A new page or tab will open.
  4. Fill in all the required information, generate OTP and click on submit.

Once registered, you will received an email with your registered user ID with the subject line “CAT 2018 Login Details”. You will received the login password on your registered mobile number from sender “LM-IIMCAT”. Candidates will have to login using their IIM CAT registration details and fill the IIM CAT application form.

IIMC AT 2018 application fee and payment mode

For general and NC-OBC candidates, the IIM CAT 2018 application fee is Rs.1,900, while for SC, ST and PwD candidates, the application fee is Rs.950. As per the Registration Guide, the final fee may be slightly different, and may include taxes and additional charges depending on the mode of payment.

CAT 2018 eligibility 

The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA. For ST, SC and PwD candidates, the percentage is relaxed to 45%.

IIM CAT exam pattern 2018

The paper will be divided into the following sections:

  • Section I: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
  • Section II: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
  • Section III: Quantitative Ability

The IIM CAT 2018 is a computer-based test of 180 minutes, with 60 minutes allotted for each of the three sections. Each correct answer is awarded 3 marks, and there are negative markings – 1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer for multiple choice questoins. No marks are cut for unattempted questions.

Candidates are not allowed to bring calculators to the testing centre, but they will be allowed to use the on-screen calculator that will be available throughout the exam.
