On the heels of the Moto Z3 launch in the US last week, Lenovo-owned Motorola is set to introduce a new smartphone for the Chinese market. A poster has surfaced on Motorola’s Weibo page confirming a Motorola launch event in Wuhan, China on August 15th.
While the poster doesn’t explicitly mention the Moto Z3, it does seem likely that the latest flagship Z series device will be launched at the event. There is no word on an India launch, but the device could be coming to China on August 15th.
The most noteworthy feature of the Moto Z3 is the 5G-upgradabililty – by snapping on a ‘Moto Mod’, an accessory that has to be purchased separately. The teaser poster also features the number 5, which is possibly a hint at the 5G MotoMod. This mod features a Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 modem, and Verizon users will be able to experience the fast 5G network.
About the Moto Z3
The Moto Z3 features a 6-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display along with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Under the hood, there is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of on-board storage.
The smartphone has a dual rear camera setup that includes a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 12-megapixel monochrome sensor, paired with a dual-LED flash module. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel snapper that can be used for Face Unlock. The device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo, upgradable to Android P.
The touted ‘all-day battery’ and the fast charging feature supported by Motorola’s in-house turbopower technology are interesting features too. As per company’s claims, the smartphone could draw half a day’s power with just half an hour of charging.
