Suzuki unveiled the new Bandit 150 for the Indonesian market at the 2018 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) today, Autocar India reported. Suzuki’s new motorcycle is based on the GSX-S150 street bike, which is a slightly premium offering. Though no details on the Bandit 150’s pricing has been revealed, one can expect it to be priced lower than its elder sibling GSX-S150.
The Bandit 150 most likely wouldn’t be launched in India as the Suzuki Gixxer is already on sale here. Similar to the Gixxer, the 2018 Bandit 150 is a market-specific motorcycle and has been positioned below the sporty GSX-S150. It features a trapezoidal-shaped LED headlamp, fully-digital instrument console and its large tank extensions add a dose of muscle to the styling. However, the single-seat unit, centre-set foot pegs and flat handlebar lend it a commuter friendly vibe.
A more local comparison in this context would be the Honda’s offering X-Blade which has been positioned as commuter segment bike in India with stylish features and toned down 160cc engine. The new Suzuki offering aims to achieve the same with its modern DOHC and liquid-cooled motor sourced from the GSX 150 twins. The 147.3cc, single-cylinder engine on the Bandit 150 generates 19.2hp and 14Nm of torque. It also comes equipped with a six-speed gearbox.
The Suzuki GSX-S150 retails for 24,750,000 Indonesian rupiah roughly Rs. 1.17 lakh on conversion. The new Bandit 150 is expected to be more affordable than its sporty sibling.
