Xiaomi is leaving no stone unturned in their bid to capitalize on India’s growing mobile market. After recently unveiling their flagship phones, the Mi A2 and a toned down version, the Mi A2 Lite, at a global launch event in Madrid, Xiaomi is all set to offer the Mi A2 to Indian consumers in August. The phones were definitely an upgrade from the previous generation in terms of camera hardware and AI features.

Now, Xiaomi’s India Managing Director, Manu Kumar Jain, has officially confirmed the Mi A2 India launch date as August 8th on his Twitter account. This certainly will be welcomed by Mi fans in India; however, there is no word yet on the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite launch date for India.

The Mi A2 price for the European market starts at 249 euros and the top-end model, with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, is priced at 349 euros. Going by these prices, we can expect the Mi A2 to be offered at similar price range in India. On conversion, the Mi A2 could be priced between Rs.20,000 and Rs.28,000 for the premium variant.

About the Mi A2

The Mi A2 gets an aluminum body with an arc structure that the company claims makes it easier to hold. The 7.3mm thick device also has a USB Type-C port and 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5 for protection. Powering the smartphone is an octa-core Snapdragon 660 SoC with four 2.2GHz cores and four 1.8GHz cores.

In terms of camera specs, expect a 12MP primary camera on the back and a 20MP secondary selfie camera. The aperture and pixel offering have been enlarged for better photography. The front camera is powered by AI technology with a selfie light for better selfies. The Mi A2 will be offered in Gold, Blue, and Black.
