One body has been recovered and items from the Indonesian plane that went missing during its flight from Pangkal Pinang on the island of Bangka to the island of Batam in south Singapore. There were between 13 to 19 passengers on board, all of whom are feared dead.
Search and rescue teams have been working to recover items from the plane, which crashed in the sea near Senayang, Lingga regency, Riau Islands, The Jakarta Post reported. The reason for the crash remains unknown. National Search and Rescue Agency chief Henry Bambang Soelistyo told the media that the M28 Skytruck plane had likely plunged into 79-feet deep waters. Search teams including divers are covering a 518-sq km sea area for wreckage of the aircraft, Soelistyo had said.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore had said the last known radar position of the aircraft was around 40 nautical miles southeast of Tanjung Pinang.
