United States President Barack Obama said his wife and First Lady Michelle Obama will never run for office. In an interview with Rolling Stone, the president said, “Michelle will never run for office. She is as talented a person as I know. But I joke that she’s too sensible to want to be in politics.” He added that she has “incredible resonance” with the American people. The interview was done a day after Republican candidate and controversial businessman Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential polls.

Ahead of the US elections, Michelle struck a chord with citizens who had asked her to run for the presidential elections in 2020. She had criticised Trump for his attitude towards women while campaigning for Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. The 53-year-old First Lady is a Harvard-educated lawyer.

POTUS had also denied reports of her running for the presidential elections in October of 2020. During a radio show “Sway in the Morning”, Obama had said, “Michelle does not have the patience or the inclination to actually be a candidate herself. That’s one thing y’all can take to the bank.”

The Obamas will leave the White House on January 20.
