American actors Alec Baldwin and Kate McKinnon energetically took a few hits in their final showdown before Tuesday’s US presidential election on Saturday Night Live.
The show had the two locked in a colourful verbal exchange, with McKinnon’s Hillary Clinton fielding question after question on her emails. Baldwin’s Donald Trump, meanwhile, faced the heat for his alleged links to the FBI, Vladimir Putin and also the KKK (to which he responded, ‘”What even is a K?”)
In an increasingly absurd setting, Baldwin responded to the arrival of each character – an FBI agent, Putin (played by Beck Bennet) and a Klansman by kissing them.
Furthermore, the two even shed their roles as the presidential nominees in the end to talk about how the presidential race had become extremely troubling. Baldwin expressed himself strongly. “I just feel gross all the time. Don’t you guys feel gross all the time about this?”
The actors even ran out into Times Square and interacted with people outside before getting back into the studio and imploring viewers to vote. “We can’t tell you who to vote for,” McKinnon said. “But on Tuesday, we all get a chance to choose what kind of country we want to live in.”
