Union minister Babul Supriyo's convoy was attacked during a rally in Asansol, West Bengal, on Wednesday, allegedly by workers of the Trinamool Congress. The minister of state for heavy industries and public enterprises claimed that TMC leader Malay Ghatak's "goons" had hurled stones at him "from a distance".
Supriyo's car was stopped at Asansol's BNR junction, according to dna. A mob vandalised the vehicle and also attacked the two other Bharatiya Janata Party workers accompanying him. The minister sustained minor injuries in the assault.
"They attacked me with brickbats and vandalised my car. This mob comprised of goons of...Trinamool Congress leader Malay Ghatak," he said adding that police arrested BJP supporters instead of "the people who attacked us".
