United States President Barack Obama on Tuesday said Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump boasting about sexually assaulting women disqualified him even “for a job at 7-Eleven”. Referring to the tape from 2005 that has Trump making the lewd comments forcing himself on women, Obama said “If it makes you mad…then you say ‘That’s not somebody I want representing the United States of America’.

Obama was speaking at an event endorsing Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in Greensboro, North Carolina. “You don’t have to be a husband or a father to hear what we heard just a few days ago and say that’s not right. You just have to be a decent human being to say that’s not right,” Obama said.

Obama also slammed Republican leaders for continuing to support their candidate even after condemning his statements. “You can’t have it both ways here. You can’t repeatedly denounce what is said by someone and then say but I’m still going to endorse him to be the most powerful person on the planet and to put them in charge.”

The tape in question shows Trump talking to NBC’s ‘Today Show’ co-host, Billy Bush, about kissing, groping and attempting to have sex with women without their consent. Among other comments, Trump is shown telling Bush about a failed attempt to seduce a married woman, who was the host of NBC’s Access Hollywood in 2005. “I moved on her like a bitch, but I couldn’t get there,” he said.

While Trump said he was sorry for the comments while continuing to dismiss them as “locker-room talk”, the scandal has thrown his campaign out of gear. Many Republicans have cut off support for him, though some remain by his side, suggesting that “he can change”.
