The Tamil Nadu government should come clean on the status of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s health, according to opposition Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam chief M Karunanidhi, PTI reported. He wished her a speedy recovery, but said the All India Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam should release a photograph of its leader to put an end to rumours that she is far more unwell than earlier reported.
Karunanidhi said, "Some persons are spreading unwanted rumours about her health on the social media and to put an end to these, proper information about the Chief Minister's health must be made available to the people." The chief minister was admitted to the Apollo Hospital in Chennai on September 22 after she complained of fever and dehydration. There has been little information on her health since she was taken to the facility, leaving party workers worried, fuelling speculation that she is seriously.
The hospital on Thursday said Jayalalithaa was responding well to treatment. “Necessary evaluation tests are being carried out. The Honourable Chief Minister has been advised few days stay in the hospital,” the doctors said in a statement.
AIADMK leader CR Saraswathi had told NDTV, “Chief Minister Jayalalithaa is under observation and absolutely fine. Soon she will be discharged and start her regular duty.” Saraswathi said Jayalalithaa had been meeting her ministers in hospital and carrying out much of her work from there.
Reports of her ill health come during the ongoing crisis over sharing Cauvery water with Karnataka.
