At least nine pilgrims died and 12 others were injured when the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a truck and another heavy vehicle drove into it from behind in Haryana's Bhiwani district on Thursday night, PTI reported. The deceased – eight men and one woman – were residents of Macchiwara near Ludhiana. They were returning from their pilgrimage to Gogamedi, a religious site in Rajasthan, The Times of India reported.
The injured are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bhiwani. In 2012, 29 pilgrims died in a similar road accident, ANI reported.
