On Wednesday, tennis superstar Rafael Nadal showed why he is a favourite with fans.

During an exhibition match in Mallorca, Nadal was playing a doubles encounter when a crying mother began calling out for her little daughter who was missing. Nadal, partnering Simon Solbas, was serving against John McEnroe and Carlos Moya when the commotion caught his attention.

Rafa stopped play while the woman, now in tears, eventually found her crying daughter. The crowd erupted in applause at the reunion, while Nadal smiled and continued play. Even hard as nail McEnroe shed a tear or two at Nadal’s gesture.

Nadal has had an indifferent 2016, suffering a shock first round defeat at the Australian Open. He skipped Wimbledon, withdrew from the French Open, and failed to make the final at either the Rio Olympics or the US Open. However, he did win the men’s doubles gold at the Olympics.
