Sania Mirza and partner Barbora Strycova entered the quarter-finals of the Wuhan Open in China, beating Gabriela Dabrowski and Maria-Jose Sanchez 3-6, 6-3, 10-5 on Tuesday. This was the second time in the last two weeks that Mirza and Strycova beat their opponents, having got past them in a tie-breaker in the Pan Pacific Open in Japan earlier.
Just like the semi-final of the Pan Pacific Open between the two pairs, the match went into a tie-breaker, where the Indo-Czech pair prevailed 10-5. Mirza had won Wuhan Open last year with former partner Martina Hingis. Mirza and Strycova came into the tournament after recently winning their second title since joining hands a couple of months ago.
