What do people love more than destroying expensive gadgets and making videos about it? Watching people destroying expensive gadgets.

The tech story (or not-story) of the season is Apple's lacklustre iPhone 7 and its decision to do away with the 3.5mm headphone jack. There have been statements both for and against the change, but social media users haven't been too pleased. In the aftermath of the release, the wireless airpod joined hands with another internet meme that refuses to die down – references to Harambe the gorilla. And that seemed to have been the definitive statement on the subject.

However, a new video uploaded a few days ago, which has been seen by over 11 million people has brought the case of the missing headphone jacks back into focus. The video, by YouTube channel TechRax, which specialises in destroying gadgets, shows an iPhone 7 being drilled into, on the speaker grill. This, it seems, will reveal a headphone jack.

The creator then puts his headphones into the newly-discovered jack, and music seems to play. It's not coming from the headphone, though, but from the phone's speakers. Apparently, drilling a hole into an iPhone 7, while voiding the warranty, does not cause damage to the phone, at least immediately.

According to the comments beneath the video, a few viewers have claimed to try the trick and are complaining that instead of revealing the hidden jack, they now have a useless brick of a phone. Go figure.
