Union Home Affairs Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday asked security forces in Jammu and Kashmir to crack down on those instigating violence in the state, and restore peace within a week, reported NDTV. Singh met intelligence officials, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi in Delhi on Sunday to discuss the situation in Kashmir.

Singh directed the officials to ensure that schools and colleges reopen and civilians are able to get back to their normal lives as soon as possible. Protests and violence have disrupted life in the state since the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani on July 8.
