American auto brand Jeep launched its India operations in Jodhpur on Tuesday with four different models of its Wrangler Unlimited and Grand Cherokee. A third variant will be made in India next year at Fiat's Ranjangaon plant near Pune, reported Business Standard.

The Delhi ex-showroom price of the Wrangler Unlimited starts at Rs 71.59 lakh, and the Grand Cherokee Limited model has been priced at Rs 93.64 lakh. The premium Grand Cherokee Summit and is priced at Rs 1.12 crore and the Grand Cherokee SRT will cost Rs 1.03 crore.

The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited has a four-cylinder, 2.8-litre engine, while diesel car Grand Cherokee has a three litre turbo engine. According to NDTV, the Wrangler is more iconic, but customers in India will prefer the Grand Cherokee because of its modern design and styling.

Jeep has invested $280 million (Rs 1,862 crore approximately) in India and plans to widen its market here in the next few years. It will have 10 dealerships in Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai soon. By November next year, the company also plans to introduce its gasoline-powered jeeps.
