Shiv Chawrasia undid his golfing of three days by carding a 7-over-par 78 on the fourth and final day of the Olympic men's golf to end with a cumulative score of 5-over par, 21 strokes behind gold medallist, Great Britain's Justin Rose, who showed great consistency over the four days to end at 16-under-par 268.
Anirban Lahiri had his best round of the tournament, but still did not make even par as he carded a 1-over 72 to finish up with 294, giving him an overall score of 10-over par, good enough only for 57th place out of a field of 60.
Chawrasia ran into trouble on the par-4 3rd hole as he putted the ball in 7 strokes, resulting in a triple bogey. Just as he was about to resurrect his round with a couple of birdies, he suffered a double bogey on the par-4th 13th, condemning him to the second-worst round of the day.
While Swede Henrikh Stenson carded a 3-under par 68 to claim the silver with a 14-under-par 270, Matt Kuchar of the United States had the day's best round and equalled the best round, carding a 8-under-par 63 including an eagle at the 10th. Kuchar finished with the bronze, one stroke behind Stenson.
