Indian shooters Gurpreet Singh and Mairaj Ahmad Khan face a tough fight to qualify for the next stage of their respective events. Singh finished Day 1 of the men's rapid fire 25 metre pistol qualification event in the 10th position while Khan also finished 10th in the men's skeet qualifiers on Friday.

Gurpreet Singh, competing in his second event at the 2016 Olympics, finished the day with a score of 289. He shot 100 in his first series of ten shots before clocking 99 with his second series.

But the India shooter only managed to score 90 with his last series of shots to finish 10th at the halfway mark of the men's qualification tournament. The top six shooters at the end of Day 2 qualify for the finals.

In the men's skeet qualifiers, Mairaj Ahmad Khan scored 72 out of a possible 75 points to finish 10th. Mairaj had scored 24 and 25 in his two sets of 25 shots and was comfortably placed in the third position but scored only 23 in his third series of shots to slip to 10th.

Six shooters qualify for the semi-finals. Khan is one point behind France's Eric Delaunay in sixth place.
