Indian rower Dattu Baban Bhokanal finished fourth in the quarter-finals of the single sculls competition on Tuesday, owing to which he will not be in contention for winning an Olympic medal. However, the 25-year-old qualified for semi-final C/D, which will be ranking events. His race will take place on August 10 at 7.40 pm IST.
Rowers finishing in the top three of their quarter-final go on to semi-final A/B, which means that they are in contention for an Olympic medal. Bhokanal finished fourth with a time of 6:59.89. The 25-year-old Pune-based army man had finished third during the heats.
Bhokanal had qualified for the Games with a silver medal finish in the Asia-Oceania qualifier.
